Beautiful art for the wall of the Dębniki Community Center!

Dana and I are on our way to North Carolina from Brazil. We met lovely people and saw a lot of birds and wildlife. Dana took many pictures of birds while I kept track of what we saw in my bird app. Brazil is almost the size of the United States, and the Pantanal is as large as the state of Texas. And just like the U.S., there are different landscapes…rainforests, mountains, flat lands, and coastal regions. We had a blast!

We will be in North Carolina for a few days and pack up Athena to continue our Athena journey. It will be fun to get back to “normal.” We’ll head back up to Minnesota to meet friends. After all, there’s always another adventure to go on!

Here we are whistling for birds…we’re not very good at it, because the birds aren’t answering!

Ukraine Relief Initiative, Fundacja Kocham Dębniki, and Fundacja Let’s Help Together Foundations were created with love and compassion for all humanity. They operate with these core values to serve the Dębniki community. And because of this kindness, Ukrainians flock to the centers where they feel the warmth of the volunteers and staff. As I get updates from Kraków, I’m inspired by everyone involved in URI, the Dębniki Community Center, and the Psychotherapeutic Integration Center…not only the volunteers but the people these foundations serve. And in turn, our new Ukrainian friends share their kindness and appreciation. Because their hearts are full of love, they want to help others, even with the trauma of resettlement in a new country. That, to me, amazes me, fills my heart, and feeds my soul. It gives me hope that there is love and kindness in the face of war and tragedy.

Doll and beading classes at the Kraków Community Center

The community center continues to offer art/craft classes, Polish language classes, drop-in daycare, art therapy classes, and a clothes and food pantry. And because of your love and compassion, this is all possible. I can’t express with words my appreciation to you for your donations and support and for sharing the message of these humanitarian efforts. I know it’s a big ask, but if you are able, can you make another donation to help our Ukrainian friends find a new life? No donation is too small; it all adds up! It takes a global village to help each other. Thank you! Let’s hope for peace! Let’s hope for peace! #westandwithukraine #peaceforukraine #lovewins

Freedom is possible!

Much love,
Cindy and Dana

_______

* In light of the emergency needs in Poland/Ukraine and the prohibitively long lead time of months or even years to establish a new charity in the US, the Hispanic Community Council of Chautauqua County (HCC), a local 501(c)(3) charity in the Warren-Jamestown area, has generously stepped forward, slashed the red tape, and agreed to act as the passthrough charity to process payments and issue tax receipts for our Ukraine Relief Initiative, consistent with their broad charitable mandate relating to international community engagement.  HCC is not charging our initiative one single penny to act as our passthrough charity. 100% of your contributions sent to HCC and earmarked for the Ukrainian Relief Initiative will go directly towards our mission of relieving the Ukrainian refugee crisis.
