Dana and I flew home on Sunday from Kraków, Poland. It was a long flight, but we are now safely home. We already miss our new Polish and Ukrainian friends. But I will stay in contact as I am on the Ukraine Relief Initiative leadership board. Contributing our time, skills, and financial support has impacted the relief efforts and us too. We’re grateful to be a part of this fantastic group of volunteers. And thank you for being on this journey with us. We appreciate your kind words and financial donations…our hearts are full. Our work continues!

LAX, returning home, May 8

Since we were sitting on a plane on Mother’s Day, we want to wish all mothers a belated Happy Mother’s Day. The dedication and love you have for your families, children, and communities every day are appreciated more than you know.

“Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.” – Unknown

Working with Ukrainian moms has given us a greater appreciation of the resilience of these women. We’ve heard their harrowing stories of how they fled Ukraine. They have left their husbands, fathers, brothers, and friends so they can protect their children and, for some, their parents. Now they are leading their families to a new life. They face the challenge of finding a place to live and a job to support them all. Many volunteer groups helped them with their relocation. Some just need a place to stay overnight and travel arrangements to move to other cities or countries, and some require a more permanent home. These are the services Kraków Dębniki for Ukraine (KDU) offers. And your donations to the Ukraine Relief Initiative help fund the efforts of the KDU. These needs continue as more Ukrainian families flee their homes in Ukraine. We can all help. Below are the current needs.

Needs to get the community center running by June 5

Thank you for joining our efforts to help these strong, resilient Ukrainian moms and their families and for the support of their Polish host families. And thank you for donating to their relocation to a safe home. These families and their homeland have been unfairly targeted, and their needs are enormous. Please share this effort with your circle of family and friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Be positive and stay safe…and Happy Mother’s Day.

Freedom is possible!

Much love,
Cindy and Dana
