Principle #4 – Activate Your Learning Gene

Have you noticed how calm it’s been since January 20th? We’ve been living with chaos for so long. But things are changing. We have a new president that radiates peace and optimism. There’s an unconscious shift in our mindset when we have a positive leader.

There’s even happiness among our lawmakers. There are still power struggles with some of them, but I hope in time, they will work together for the betterment of the American people. But in the meantime, I know President Biden and his administration are already making positive changes.

The United States vaccine rollout plan was left in a crisis from the last administration. I’m encouraged to see progress in President Biden’s plan to get more vaccines in people’s arms. The federal government and state governments are finally working together, but it will take time. The COVID response team held its first televised briefing this week. Truth and transparency are a welcome change. I’m happy to say that my mom, in North Carolina and my mother-in-law, in California received their first vaccine this week. I have hope!

Having a President who is an eternal optimist can change the atmosphere, and thus, can change the attitude of people in the United States. This is an example of changing our mindset, consciously or unconsciously, by surrounding ourselves with positive people.

Sometimes we may get stuck in a negative space in our personal lives. When we stay in this negative place, we become victims of our life situations. We have two choices…to be a victim or change our mindset and rise above our challenges. We can be happy despite our circumstances.

“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.”
– Peace Pilgrim

The mind is an amazing thing, and it controls so much of our attitude or outlook. It can be difficult to recognize the need for an “attitude adjustment”. However, it can be done. Try this…think about the things you are struggling with and reason them out. Can you do anything about them, or do you need to accept that they are out of your control? What about looking for three or four positive things in your day and vocalizing them. When we speak them aloud, it feels more real and absolute.

“Changing your mindset from being trapped, to all things are possible, brings freedom and the rest takes care of itself.” – Cindy Henson, author of Jungle: A Journey to Peace, Purpose, and Freedom

It’s time to lighten our load and change the way we think about our challenges. Let’s take control! It’s all in the mind! Good times are ahead with our country’s new president and his administration, and it’s time to celebrate the possibilities. I’m ready for it, and I’m ready to start having fun again, how about you?

Freedom is possible!

Love,
Deb
