Principle #6 – Move to action one random act of kindness at a time

What a busy couple of weeks we’ve had. Dana and I are heading back to Kraków, Poland, next week! I’ve been preparing agendas for meetings with the URI and KDU teams, going to doctor appointments, and packing. Since August is the last month of summer, we are soaking up every last minute of it by going to Padre games, golfing, and having fun with friends. I hope all of you are taking those last-minute vacations before another school year starts and the cold weather begins.

Most families in Poland take the month of August off, so it’s been more quiet than usual at the Świetlica Dębniki Community Center. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t serving Ukrainian families in August. We serve more than 2500 Ukrainians every month. Check out the July attendance numbers.

The pantry has the most visitors every month and is the first stop for most moms and kids when they arrive at our community center. Guests connect with other Ukrainian women to get much-needed food and hygiene products at no cost to them. The pantry had over 1400 visits last month. That’s why we aim to raise $3000.00 to completely “stock the pantry” for our Ukrainian guests. Here is the shopping list we were provided to buy supplies for women and children of Świetlica Dębniki.

Please help us “stock the pantry to overflowing.” If you don’t need a tax receipt, please send money to my Venmo account (@cynthia-henson-12), and we will use the funds to shop once we arrive in Kraków. The more you donate, the more we can purchase. No amount is too small. We will send you photos of the “stock the pantry” activities you supported. If you want a tax receipt, please use the PayPal account link at the bottom of the email and indicate “stock the pantry.” Thank you for your generosity and support for the Świetlica Dębniki Community Center. Your donations will be used immediately to make a difference for hundreds of families.

The need for food is endless. Imagine fleeing your home country with your children because of a war you don’t understand and moving to another country where you don’t speak the language. Then needing to find a new home and struggle to feed your family. This is what these Ukrainian families face every day. Most of us will never face this challenge, but we can make a difference and bring relief to these brave souls.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. We need to do what the Poles and other European countries do…take time to have fun, recharge…and help others when possible. Be positive and stay safe. #lovewins #supportukrainians #peaceforukraine

In appreciation and solidarity,
Cindy
