Principle #1 – Tap into your Passion and Purpose and Have Fun

My Passion Statement is “Dancing with Life.” Well, I’m doing just that. How better to do that than by going to concerts! Dana and I went to the Bruno Mars concert last week in Las Vegas. We sang, danced, and visited with friends. What a great weekend! Not only am I dancing with life, but I’m also living my passion and purpose by helping our Ukrainian friends!

The URI/KDU fundraiser plans are almost finished. We have entertainment, wine, and a silent auction. All we’re missing is “you,” our friends!!! So, if you are in San Diego, put the fundraiser on your calendar for Sunday, March 12, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm at Koi Zen Cellars in Carmel Mountain – 12225 World Trade Dr. STE P, San Diego, CA 92128. If you want to donate an item or service for the silent auction, please respond to this email, and I will contact you. Thank you for helping us relieve the Ukrainian crisis. We can’t wait to see you there!!!

“Relieve the crisis. Thoughtfully. With discipline and Heart. Now.”

The Swietlica Dębniki Community Center expansion is on track to open on February 18. We have an extraordinary artist, Marcin Wierzchowski, who works with our community center. He painted a peace dove on our wall during an art workshop with children and teenagers. He is a graphic designer, comic artist, and illustrator of children’s books, and he creates murals. See his work in the pictures below. He will paint a mural on the outside wall of the added community center space. KDU has asked women who come to the community center to write a few words or phrases about what the community center means to them. They shared some words: “peace, friendship, light, family, smile, warmth, help, joy, support, and home.” Marcin will incorporate these words into a one-of-a-kind mural painted especially for us!

The Swietlica Dębniki Community Center currently serves 1,000 Ukrainian women and children monthly. With the expansion, it will have the ability to serve another 1,000. That’s 2,000 Ukrainians a month! We can provide them with Polish/English language classes, psychotherapy, career help, arts and crafts for women, children, and teens, support groups for mothers, daycare, and a food/clothing pantry. Our new Ukrainian friends have found warmth and support in their new community. And they give back to their Polish neighbors by sharing a weekly lunch with them and making them gifts. Their latest gift was making angels for their Polish angels. Ukrainian women love arts and crafts, and they love to cook. There’s always something to create to show their love and appreciation.

Angels for Polish Angels!

The compassion of URI, KDU, Polish, and Ukrainian people touch me so deeply. They are what humanity is all about. Ukrainian moms and children are not bitter by their circumstances…oh no! They appreciate the encouragement and support they get from the community center and want to help others like they’ve been helped. I’m amazed by their resiliency. I learn how to be a better person from each of them.

If you are touched like I am and want to help relieve the crisis, please see the ways to donate at the bottom of the email. And if you have already donated, please know that we can help these Ukrainian women and children because of you. Thank you so much for making the community center possible. I appreciate your continued love and support of them and me. Thank you for being the light in my circle. We have one dream, one heart, and one world! Let’s help together. Be positive and stay safe. #lovewins #peaceforukraine

Much love,
Cindy
